If you tune into the Macy's Thanksgiving holiday Day Parade on Thursday morn forenoon, a.m, keep an eye out for two Goshen High School participants marching just in front of Santa Claus.
Jesse Wade, 19, and Max Meeks, 23, have both made the main trip to New York City with the Madison Scouts, an elite drum and bugle corps that draws members from all over the world. Members go through an extensive auditioning plan and must attend monthly wedding rehearsal camps.
"It's like high school (band) on steroids, " Jesse Wade's grandad, Matthew, said of the Scouts, that may recruit male musicians between the gets older of 16 and 23. "They're very competitive, they're professional. "
Wade, a sophomore performance giant, and Johnson, a fifth-year tones education major, both attend Balls State University.
Wade, a brass player, first joined the corps as a 16-year-old. Johnson, who is within the first season as a "Man as to Madison, " can play a multitude of instruments, but his father, Mark, says he currently plays the main mellophone, an instrument that looks like a functional cross between a trumpet such as baritone horn, for the Scouts.
Matt Wade said the Scouts might be final performers to march the main three-mile long parade route.
