Having been speaking during the 'Surya Mitra' nation's award presentation ceremony here on Through May 30. Shekhar Gupta further said, "The issue of electricity spelt attaint for some political parties in the polls, while for others it brought glory, and the seat of power for those. We are in an era where bijli-pani-sadak (power-water-roads) decide the outcome of polls.
"Once upon a time, the popular selection slogan was 'roti-kapda-makan' (food-clothes-shelter), except this slogan did not originate about India - it came from Pakistan's former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Thereafter, mandir-masjid (temple-mosque) but mandals also became election points, " he added.
"In another five-six years, elections are being battled on issues like health, profession and quality of life which have become crucial the youth. Among these, courser is the major issue pertaining to quality of life. Upon lights up not only our homes except our lives too. Today, excess courser is being produced in our country, even we see shortage of power supply everywhere. The reason for of the incompetence of officials this can be administration, " he opined.
"Electricity is the basic right of people. In your responsibility of the government to provide power accessory to all people and improve their lifestyle. It is commendable that institutes really like Selco are doing this job right away. Providing solar power to 3. 5 lac families in the country is no mean fur. We must applaud Dr Harish Hande for making this possible, " Gupta said.
